BJP MLA manhandled by police

Mashroo, rushed to the 'B' division police station last night after the police raided a house and arrested seven women, who were found gambling, police said.

When Mashroo started arguing with the police, one of the policemen allegedly pushed him, they said.

After falling down, Mashroo started complaining of breathing problems and was first rushed to civil hospital in Junagadh, from where, he was referred to Rajkot Hospital, where his condition was stated to be normal.

Mashroo also alleged that one of the police constables, who was present during the house-raid, was in an inebriated condition.

Later, a medical test was conducted on the police constable Haneef Shama, police said.

When contacted Junagadh superintendent of police Deepankar Trivedi said that an inquiry has been ordered to find out the truth in the matter and appropriate action would be taken against the constable if found guilty.

Meanwhile, Mashroo supporters today called for a bandh and most of shops in Junagadh remained closed.
