The event began with an awareness programme on voluntary blood donation by the medical professionals of Sagar Hospitals who clarified doubts and misconceptions of the students about blood donation and its impact on health.

It was followed by a video presentation on the Indian Army by Sai Suresh, a second year MBA student. Charles Ma, a Chinese dancer performed an bharatanatyam invocation dance – a Shiva Sthuti and got a huge appreciation from the students.

Officers from the Indian Army like Colonel Anshu Trivedi, Lieutenant colonel Rishi Raj, Colonel KJS Gill, Colonel JS Virk and Colonel Rajeev Bhatia interacted with the students and informed them about career choices in army, role of youth in disaster management and University Entry Scheme.

The army officers presented videos and powerpoint presentations before the students and responded to their queries. The real video footages on counter insurgency, war against terrorism, martial combat trainings, navy and aircraft operations set the pulse of the audience racing.

“It is because of the valour and sacrifice of the Indian Army that we are living peacefully. So, on the occasion of International Youth Day, we decided to salute the brave hearts. There are  plenty of careers to pursue in the army, and through the programme we wanted to create awareness among youth and encourage them to join the army,” said Vidhyadhar, an engineering student.

Karnataka Vidyarthi Koota distributed various leadership awards to the students on the occasion. “We were so thrilled to watch the videos presented to us by the army people. They had prepared a good interaction kit with powerpoint presentation and videos. It shows their work discipline and dedication to  work. We all want peace and the Indian Army has a key role to play in this regard. We, youth, will support them in all possible ways that we can,” said Mahoday, a management student at DSI.
