<p>It was reported that unidentified miscreant had fired at Cheeranda Achappa Vitala (55), who was retired from the Central Reserve Police Force 15 years ago, near his house at around 6 pm and consequently Vitala died on the spot. <br /><br />The miscreant, who was hiding near Vitala’s house, managed to run away from the spot after the incident.<br /><br />It was Vitala’s wife Lata and sister Seethamma, who rushed outside their house on hearing the firing sound and traced the body lying in a pool of blood. <br /><br />Vitala was engaged in cultivating his land for the past 15 years. Meanwhile, the reason for the incident is yet to be ascertained.<br /><br />DySP Annappa Naik, sub inspectors Siddegowda and Mahesh visited the spot.<br /></p>
