<p>“I was a bit nervous to start with in the first over but gradually I gained my line and length back,” said the left-arm paceman who last played for India in April 2008 against South Africa in Ahmedabad. <br /><br />The Uttar Pradesh paceman bowled 10 overs on a rain-truncated day without much returns. <br />“It (bowling) was pretty good, bowled proper lines and lengths as the innings wore on. We were just waiting for a nick or some kind of chance like that. It wasn’t good to begin with but slowly it became better,” he remarked. <br /><br />The 25-year-old, who replaced Zaheer Khan in the side, was told only on the morning of the match that he would be playing. <br /><br />“This morning after the warm-up when PK (Praveen Kumar) said he was not fit for the match, the coach came and told me ‘you are playing’,” he said. <br /><br />RP didn’t agree that he had lack of match practice coming into the Test. “I played in the IPL and a few club matches. In India the domestic four-day season is between September and March and so I couldn’t play too many four-day games but I did play a few one-day games and the IPL. I am feeling quite fit at the moment,” RP Singh pointed out.</p>
