It is learnt that Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah and his counterpart in the Upper House Motamma objected to the manner in which the invitation was forwarded to them.
Routine tapal
“There was not even a phone call from the Chief Minister. The invitation (for the breakfast meeting) was sent as a routine tapal,” sources close to Siddaramaiah said. The invitation was refused to send a clear message to the Government that it cannot take the Opposition for granted, the sources added.
Gowda is keen on maintaining cordial relations with the Opposition. In his maiden press meet as Chief Minister he had said that he would hold discussions with Opposition on a regular basis.
