Bedi, who is best known for playing the happy go-lucky, unemployed younger brother Raja in Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, says that stand-up comedy is forceful humour, which does not last long.

“Stand-up comedy is not real comedy. It does make you laugh but then it does not last long. It feels like one is forced to laugh. And it lacks humour,” said Bedi.

“I have also done stand-up comedy, but I didn’t continue for long. I didn’t enjoy it as I am an actor. I enjoy working in a team not as an individual. It brings out humour in the best possible way,” he said.

Bedi, who started his career as a supporting actor in the 1979 film Hamare Tumhare, starring Sanjeev Kumar, went on to act in over 150 films and many TV serials. He says that he has survived so long because he chose to do quality work.

“I have survived so long because I have always enjoyed my work. I worked hard and gave my best, not second best. Had I not done all that, I wouldn’t have been able to reach where I am today. I enjoy my work and make sure that I always do quality work,” he said.
