One held for spreading rumours on Abhishek returning alive

Police arrested Soloman in this connection. There were strong rumours in Lingarajapuram on Friday that the boy has been found and is with relatives. However, Abhishek's mother Bharati told the police that Soloman, who was Abhishek's classmate's father, had told her that by Friday night her son would return home.

Based on the statement given by Bharati, the police interrogated Solomon, who denied that he was involved in spreading the rumours. He told the police that based on the intuition, he had actually said that Jesus would bring her child back.

When Bharati was contacted, she was inconsolable. She wondered why people were after her and her family.  "Already I am heart-broken by the death of my son and the people are thinking that it was a drama for money. Those people should know that even today I have not deposited the cheque given to me by the government because money cannot compensate for the loss of my son," added Bharati. Stating that she was distressed with the regular back-biting by the neighbours and friends, the woman said she was contemplating to end her life.

Abhishek was swept away in the storm-water drain on May 31 and the Army was also pressed into the service when police, fire brigade and the home guards failed to trace his body. Even after two months, the body has not been traced.
