<p>The City, with a history of celebrating the event in a grand way, is flooded with Ganesha idols of different sizes- from Lilliputian to gigantic. <br /><br />Day and night<br />Artisans, who have arrived in Bangalore from different parts of the country, are working day and night to supply idols in the City.<br /><br />This time, however, Ganesha’s stay in the City will be restricted to a limited period <br />as the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has decided to limit the celebration for 10 to 15 days. <br /><br />Pollution measure<br />Also as a measure to check pollution, the Palike is reaching out to the artisans to prepare eco-friendly idols which could not harm the water bodies. <br /><br />Following the call, many artisans are using soil which can dilute in the water, instead of plaster of paris. According to the Palike officials, starting next year, they will make a point to ensure the idol makers are using eco-friendly paints instead of harmful chemicals. <br /><br />Water bodies harmed<br />Last year, fish-kill was reported in Yediyur tank. The use of harmful chemicals to paint the immersed idols was seen as the cause for the death. <br /><br />The Palike has also identified tanks where the idols should be immersed and has taken <br />up measures for safety and security.<br /></p>
