Low turnout as KMC polls end

Last Updated 29 August 2011, 16:53 IST

The difference is due to the fact that many doctors have not received their ballot papers as they have not updated their addresses in the KMC records. However, there are doctors, who have not received ballot papers but want to vote.

One such doctor, who had approached the court to get his voting right was permitted to vote using a ‘duplicate ballot paper’.
However, according to KMC president Dr Chikkananjappa all doctors cannot be given this opportunity since there could be duplicate voting.

“A doctor came with court orders and we had to permit him to vote. But this opportunity cannot be given to all,” he said. When asked why doctors cannot vote by showing their registration certificate, he said it is difficult to verify the certificates of all the doctors.

Monday was the last day to submit ballot papers and counting will be taken up on August 30.
