Doubling track: 210 families to be affected

Union Minister of state for Railways K H Muniappa has promised that the railway officials will inspect the doubling of track work area, said District Congress leader K B Mallikarjuna.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, he said 107 families in Birur and 105 families in Kadur were residing beside the railway track for the last 40 years. The authorities have asked the families to vacate immediately, causing lot of inconvenience to them. “We met the Minister on behalf of the families. Responding to our plea, the Minister asked senior officer Ramesh Kunjari to visit the spot and inspect the area,” he said.

He said: “we have urged the authorities rehabilitate the families. Housing facilities must be given to the families through TMC or housing department. An under bridge should be constructed at B Kodihalli.”

The Railways have refused to issue NOC to carry out the work on laying pipeline to supply drinking water to Birur-Kadur from Bhadra reservoir. The issue has been brought to the notice of the Minister.

The Minister has directed the railway officials to issue NOC to lay pipeline below the track. A Railway hospital in Birur railway station should be constructed, he said.

Desilting
Mallikarjuna alleged that the BJP government has indulged in misappropriation while undertaking the work on desilting of the tanks in the state. He urged the CM to tender resignation to the post of MP.
