“The Test series is hard to forget from an England point of view,” said Broad here on Tuesday. “We played very well and the confidence is high. It’s different in the white-ball game, they have a few new players and we have to be aware of that. It’s up to us to do our research on them so they don’t take us by surprise. We know how big cricket is in India. We know they have talented players and exciting youngsters, so anyone we play we know we have a tough challenge,” he explained.

The all-rounder, declared England’s man of the Test series, was excited about leading the side. “We have a few exciting guys here. We’ve seen the talents of the new guys throughout the domestic Twenty20 series – they’ve done extremely well. Twenty20 is a great format. We have two talented sides going head-to-head; the 50-over World champions and Twenty20 World champions. A sell-out at Old Trafford... So it promises to be a good game,” he offered.

Broad conceded the team was under pressure ahead of the lone T20 international. “Every Twenty20 game you play, there’s pressure,” he started. “The fans and the media want you to win but the pressure comes from within the changing room. We know there’s a game to win and that’s what we’re focused on. We can take confidence from the Test series.

“Twenty20 is not something to be scared of, we play the way we play because it works for us. It’s an exciting time for us. We have a few hitters at the top of the order and if we stick to our own game, we won’t go too far wrong,” he reasoned.

Though India are missing some key players, Broad felt they still had enough firepower to beat any side. “You have a few key players who are out for India – the likes of Virender Sehwag who they will miss at the top of the order and (Gautam) Gambhir and some other dangerous hitters. But we all know their replacements are talented hitters who have the experience of playing in the IPL. We have to be fully aware of that and plan for that,” he pointed out.
