On the first three days of the championships, every athlete who appeared on the cover of the Daily Programme book has ended up making inglorious exits, in what is being termed as the ‘curse of the cover.’

Steven Hooker was the first and he no-heighted in the men’s pole vault qualifying round. On the second day, Usain Bolt graced the cover and before the night was out, he was sprinting for cover.

Dayron Robles was the man featured on Monday and his reward was a swift disqualification after a controversial finish in the men’s 110M hurdles.

It was Isinbayeva’s turn on Tuesday and the Russian fell from grace again, finishing in sixth spot.

The women’s 20Km walk is the only event on the programme on Wednesday and the favourites will be quaking in their boots, fearing the curse of the cover!
