The Usain Bolt show the world was waiting for arrived on Saturday night and the packed Daegu stadium enjoyed every bit of it. But the man himself was far from satisfied and served a warning that he would be back for more, come next year.

“I am even more determined to do well at the Olympic Games after missing out on the 100 metres here. As I have said earlier, my aim is to become a legend. I missed a step here and it is going to be serious work from here on; there won’t be any joking around,” said Bolt after winning the 200M gold.

Bolt also spoke about his false start in the 100M and said he wouldn’t say yes to a change in the rule. “I was working hard on my start all season. In the first round, I got it right; in the second, it was not good even though the execution was right.

“Anxiety and excitement were the reasons for my false start. I was saying let’s go, let’s go, let’s go and then anxiety got the better of me. It is all my fault. I wanted to go off fast along with Yohan Blake. I will just enjoy it next time and I will be myself.

“I am not going to say yes to the rule change. I know the rule and know that lot of people want to change it. I am not going to say it should be changed. For me, I will remember this mistake and learn from it. My coach (Glen Mills) has been telling me not to anticipate and wait for the gun. I will be doing that next time.”

Bolt gave credit to Blake for his win in the 100. “If anyone deserved it, he did. He has been working really hard for it. From the time he came in, he has been madly in love with track and field. But for my false start, he would have timed about 9.80. If I had been there, I would have clocked about 9.69-9.70,” said the world record holder who will sign off the championships with two more races on Sunday – the heats and finals of the 4x100M relay.

“I am really looking forward to it and want to run those races well,” he said.
