Boy denied admission for being 'too short'

Last Updated 03 September 2011, 17:46 IST

Reports said that none of the seven children, including five girls, could go to the government-run primary school in the locality since they were far shorter than children of their age.  Eight-year-old Azeem, who was just below two feet, was the latest from the family to have been turn down due to lack of height.

“I have been trying to get Azeem admitted to the local government primary schools for the past three years but every time I was turned back by the school authorities saying that he was too short,” says Azeem's mother Sanno, who herself is a little over three feet.

“Ideally Azeem should have started going to school at the age of five but despite making every possible effort, he was not admitted,” she said.
