They took out a procession from the premises of the college to the office of the Assistant Commissioner.

The protesting lecturers also  staged a stir in front of the office.

‘Set right’

“The wage disparity between PU lecturers and principals has not been set right despite repeated appeals and protests,” they said.
The State government has been only making false assurances to address the wage disparity between pre-university college lecturers and principals and those of degree colleges.

However, no tangible action to redress the issue has been taken so far. Moreover, the report submitted to the State to resolve the wage disparity too remains undisclosed, they said.

The protesters later submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner.

Kolar

The professors of the District Pre-University college staged a protest demanding in front of the Deputy Commissioners’ office demanding to set right the wage disparity.

There is a wide gap between the wages of the degree college lecturers and pre-university college lecturers and a rectification was demanded in this regard during the protest.

The monthly wages of the pre-university college lecturers is Rs 29.5 thousand in Tamil Nadu where as in Karnataka it is only Rs 17.5 thousand.

Work less, pay more

The professors were discontent about the fact that even if the degree college lecturers work lesser hours than the pre-university college lecturers they are privileged with more salary.

Member of Legislative Council Y A Narayanaswamy visited the spot and expressed his support.

The members of the State High School Assistant Teachers’ Committee also participated in the protest.
