It is more than a year since the family sought transfer from BPL to APL, their request application is yet to be attended by the department of food and civil supplies.<br /><br />“I visited the office several times, but the officials offer several excuses to change the card from BPL to APL. It is not a single case. There are numerous such cases in the taluk,” the government official says.<br /><br />In contrary, many poor families have got APL cards in the taluk, a story not different from the rest of the state. While, tribals continue to be neglected. Out of 26 families in Manemoole hamlet in D B Kuppe only 15 families have got ration cards. Interestingly, a tribal family has also got a APL card — in a village where a two-year-old child died because of malnutrition recently!</p>
