Man kills lover, attempts suicide

Anand, 45, a tailor, allegedly killed Padmamma, 42, worker at a garment factory, with a machete and tried to stab himself.

Police said Anand had married Nagaratnamma, 42, from Nelamangala and had three daughters from her. He developed an affair with Padmamma, who had parted ways with her husband. Padmamma, a mother of two sons lived in Chikkabanalli Colony in Kadugodi. She had quit the job six months ago, the police said.

After Anand started living with Padmamma, Nagarantamma separated from him. On Monday, Anand and Padmamma quarrelled over a trivial issue and went to bed after having alcohol, the police added.

Anand, under the influence of alcohol, hacked her with a machete and beheaded her. Later, he stabbed himself. A local BJP leader, Vasanthamma, who noticed him lying in a pool of blood, alerted the police. He was admitted to the Bowring Hospital.

The police said they would be able to ascertain the exact reason for the crime once Anand recovers.

Tempo driver murdered

A tempo driver was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend in Hebbal on Monday night.
Basavaraju, 22, a resident of Chamundinagar, was returning home with his friend Chaluvaraju, after attending the cremation of their friend. In an inebriated state, they picked up a quarrel. Chaluvaraju stabbed Basavaraju at a desolate place behind Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple and fled, the police said.

The passersby, who noticed his body on Tuesday morning, alerted the police. He had died of massive bleeding, the police said. Search is on for Chaluvaraju, they added.
