'Solar, bio fuels key to energy security'

He was speaking at the  inauguration of  the Galaxy Forum India 2011, organised jointly by Bangalore Association for Education and International Lunar Observatory Association.
Kalam said that increasing amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere due to the use of petrol and diesel, had made it imperative to seek solar energy and bio fuels.

Kalam also said that teachers had to come up with innovative ways to teach children in the absence of infrastructure and lack of facilities.

Innovative teaching

Giving the example of a teacher in Andhra Pradesh, he said that teacher just used the moon and the sky to teach the children about the earth’s satellite.

“Though the school was not well equipped, the teacher was making students sit on the floor during full moon day and she was teaching the students about the moon,” he said.
Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda announced that the government had earmarked Rs seven crore to set up a Vision Group that would look into training science teachers.

He also announced plans to construct planetariums at Pilikula in Mangalore and Nandi Hills
Kalam who was on a whirlwind tour also inaugurated the Project Management National Conference 2011, which was hosted by the Project Management Institute.

The three-day conference seeks to provide a common networking platform for thousands of professionals across all industries to participate actively in nation building. Later he spent time with children with learning disorders at Insight Academy.
