Rain cripples life in City

Last Updated 08 September 2011, 19:13 IST

The Met department recorded the rainfall at 7.2 mm. The downpour caused inconvenience for the thousands of devotees who had gathered to witness the annual ritual of St Mary’s
Feast at Shivajinagar, the City’s central business district.

Unexpected

The unexpected rain, after a sunny afternoon, resulted in traffic snarls. The rain was mainly because of the upper air cyclonic system building a trough from the Bay of Bengal to the southern peninsula.

As a result, the minimum temperature came down to 19.8 degrees in the City. No loss to properties was reported.
