Katta allowed to undergo surgery

Judge N K Sudhindra Rao had directed Victoria Hospital Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Kantharaj Jain to appear before the court, for submission of documents petaining to Katta’s medical condition.

The RMO said that Katta had been recommended to undergo surgery by the Head of Neurosurgery Department Dr Balaji Pai. According to Dr Pai, Katta will need to undergo cervical discectomy to alleviate his back pain. The judge sought to know the number of days required to complete the procedure and the time taken for post-operative recovery.

The RMO said that Katta required to undergo Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan. After discussing with other physicians on the results, a date for the procedure would be decided.

After granting permission for the procedure, the judge directed the hospital authorities to inform the court on the developments.

It can be recalled that Katta Subramanya has been remanded to judicial custody, and is being treated for more than 15 days. He has been chargesheeted by the Lokayukta Police in the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) land scam case.
