Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Home Minister Dr V S Acharya said Tulu language is a unique language and the Aatidongi koota is an occasion for the women folks to meet and discuss various issues confronting the society. “Number of girls attending schools has massively increased and the notion of women empowerment is not far away from reality,” he said and added that Tulu is one of the State languages and attempts are made to include the language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP State President and Udupi-Chikmagalur MP D V Sadananda Gowda said Tulu culture has put forth a legacy of distinctive tradition and is the part of the rich cultural heritage of the land. Children should be inculcated with the tradition of the Tulu culture.

State delegation should compel the Centre to take measures to include the language in the 8th Schedule.

Demand for the same has been submitted to the Central government in the year 2004, he informed.

Udupi Taluk Women Association President Sarala Kanchan, Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy President Dr Palthadi Ramakrishna Achar and others were present.
