The two brothers, Puran Chand Wadali, a Padma Shri, and Pyarelal Wadali, have claimed innocence. The police detained the two and let them off to board the plane after investigation.
The Wadali brothers have claimed that the bullets were legitimately theirs, but inadvertently got into their baggage. Their licence of pistol, they said, is at their residence.
The bullets were detected during security check by the CISF at Amritsar International airport, which is considered sensitive from a security point of view given its proximity to Pakistan. No arrest was made.
