Emotions take centre stage

The event, which included dance and musical performances, was held at the JSS Auditorium in Jayanagar 8th Block.

After the inaugural event, Rashmi Raj, an Odissi exponent, took the stage and entertained the gathering for nearly 45 minutes. Her depiction of Mahakali in Raag Rageshree was much appreciated. She presented it well by bringing forth all the emotions effectively.

Her next performance, Manjalacharanam, showcased her expertise in the Odissi dance form and her dedication to the art form. The talented artiste stole the heart of many with her perfect body movements and expressions.

She was accompanied by Binod Bihari Panda on harmonium, Budhanath Swain on mridangam, Sanjeev Kumar Kundu on violin and Somay Ranjan Joshi on flute. Later, the audience were treated to a violin recital by artistes from three generations.

The artists were Padma Vibhushan awardee N Rajam, her daughter Sangeetha Shankar and grand daughters Ragini and Nandini. Rajam remembered her association with Ustad Bale Khan and performing along with him. She said that Bale Khan was very dedicated and had taught his students with great enthusiasm.

They commenced their performance with Raag Mia Malhar. The talented artistes offered many surprises to the audience and made it an interesting concert.  Vishwanath Nakod accompanied them on tabla. S Raiz Khan and Hafeez Khan, sons of Bale Khan, were present on the occasion. Deccan Herald was the media partner for this programme.
