Four held for extortion, thefts

The suspects are Salique Ahmad (21), Siddique (21), Shahid Khan (23) all residents of Tannery Road, and Ameen Pasha (20) of K G Halli.

The suspects operated in Jayanagar, Mico Layout, Madivala and Bannerghatta areas.
They would follow lone and elderly women, rob them of their valuables and abscond.

They rode bikes pretending to be college students, identified techies, deliberately caused accidents by ramming against their vehicles.

They would then snatch their rings, chains, credit cards. They would withdraw money to meet personal expenditure. They would pledge the ornaments with pawn brokers in Shivajinagar, Tannery Road and Lakkasandra areas.

Bikes recovered

The police arrested Satish (20) and  Kempegowda (19) recently in a vehicle theft case and recovered six bikes worth Rs 1.50 lakh.

The suspects would use duplicate keys to ride away the bikes parked in front of houses during nights.

Students robbed

An unidentified person robbed two girls of their gold chain and cellphones in Chikkajala police limits on Saturday night.

The victims Usha and Lavanya, students of an engineering college in Chikkajala were returning to their hostel after visiting a Ganesha temple.

The suspect accosted them, threatened then at knifepoint, snatched Usha’s chain and cellphone and Lavanya’s cellphone before fleeing away.

One killed, one injured

Two persons were injured when a goods autorickshaw collided with a motorcycle on Hesaraghatta Road in Peenya traffic police limits on Saturday night.

The deceased Thimme Gowda (38), of Manjunathnagar, was an autorickshaw driver of a flower decoration shop. The injured Danappa (40), is a resident of Manjunathnagar and an employee of a private firm. He is recovering at a private hospital.

According to the police, the victim and the injured accompanied a procession to immerse Ganesha idol at Hesaraghatta lake.

While others returned home in a tractor, Gowda and Danappa returned on their bikes. Gowda was riding the motorcycle with Danappa riding pillion.

Bar raided

The police raided a bar and restaurant in Indiranagar and arrested two persons for allegedly running a discotheque on Saturday night.

The suspects were Vikas (26) from Indiranagar and Deepak (26) from Kaggadasapur.
On a tip, the police raided Beach Bar and Restaurant on Indiranagar 100 feet road at 10 pm and arrested the duo. The bar and restaurant owner Kaneendra Buman and Pankaj Patiya are absconding.
