Avdesh Yadav (21) allegedly stabbed Sapna (19) at her residence after coming to know that her family had fixed her marriage yesterday, SP J K Shahi said, adding Yadav then ended his life too.
The girl's parents were not present in the house when the incident took place. The matter was reported to police by Usha, the house owner, Shahi said.
Later, SHO Indirapuram Sunil Kumar reached Sapna's house and sent the bodies for post mortem.
The brother of the victim has been taken into custody for questioning, police said.
