Man arrested for raping 13-year-old niece

The accused has been identified as Lala Das of Champapur Kelasahi village, while the victim is a student of class seven.

As per the FIR filed by the father of the victim with the police, Lala took the victim on the pretext of showing the flood in nearby Chhatia area on Monday afternoon and later raped her twice at two different places, police said.

The FIR alleged that Lala kept the girl in an isolated place near Jalaka Matha at Chhatia the same night night and raped her. The next morning he took her to Mahavinayak temple and again raped her in the nearby forest, it alleged.

Victim's father filed the FIR after his daughter informed him about the incident yesterday.

Barachana police arrested the accused from his village last night and produced him in the court today which sent him to jail.

Medical test of both the accused and the victim had been done, said Prasanta Kumar Majhi, inspector-in-charge of Barachanas police station.
