Khade powers to freestyle gold; Aaron settles for silver

For the second successive day, the 18-year-old Khade went in record time as he powered to the 200 freestyle gold (Group A, 18 and above) in one minute 50.14 seconds.

The Kolhapur lad erased the previous mark of 1:51.65 which stood in the name of Alaxander Ivanov of Kazakhstan. Khade on Monday had rewritten the championship record in 100 butterfly.

On Tuesday, Khade also set a new National mark in 50 butterfly with a time of 24.17 seconds to win the silver.

The old time of 24.25 was also created by Khade, in the 2008 Commonwealth Games.

Aaron D'Souza continued his good run of form when he won a silver in the Group B boys’ 100 freestyle in 51.19.

Sandeep Sejwal took silver in 100 breaststroke (Group A, 1:00.97). In the process, teh Delhiite rewrote the National record of 1:01.20 set by him in the recent World Championship in Rome.

Richa Mishra clinched a silver in 800 freestyle event in the Group A category with a time of 8:11.68 as well as a bronze in the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:25.84.

In the diving section, Hritika Shriram took silver (Group A) in the girls’ 10-metre platform competition with 194.40 points.
