Law for time-bound disposal of public requests: Lokayukta

Last Updated 15 September 2011, 18:02 IST

“The Delhi government has brought out a similar legislation. The law provides for disposal of applications seeking ration cards, driving licence, etc, in a time-bound manner. It is being planned to enact a similar law in the State,” Justice Patil said here on Thursday. He was speaking to reporters after a grievance redress meet.

The Lokayukta said that the State government had been extending co-operation since the day he assumed the office. He said all the powers necessary to realise the objectives of the Lokayukta Act should be granted to the institution. “However, it should not be interpreted as dictatorial,” he reasoned.

Justice Patil said the issue of reinstatement of officers caught during Lokayukta raids had been discussed with the chief secretary and suitable steps would be taken in that regard.

Measures would also be taken for qualitative investigation, effective framing of charges and speedy disposal of cases, he added.
