Though the Coastal Security Police and the local fishermen offered to help in the search operations, the incessant rain and unfavourable oceanic conditions on Thursday prevented them from venturing into the sea. On Friday, though the rain receded, the sea continued to be turbulent, thereby obstructing the search operations.

Mangalore City Police Commissioner, Seemanth Kumar Singh, told Deccan Herald that the Coast Guards have brought in a helicopter and a ship to look for the wreckage of the boat and to search for the victims, since venturing into deep sea has not been possible using boats available with the Coastal Security Police and the local fishermen.

According to Vincent, he was accompanied by Narayana (26), Shiva (45), Bishak (25), Abdul Rehman (30), Ramanan (45) and Srikanth (55) during the sail. He said since he had joined the boat just a month ago, he was not aware of any personal details of his companions.

According to police, the details of three persons have been gathered. Narayana Gowda, son of Channaiah Gowda hails from Koppa in Chikmagalur, Srikanth, son of Thippanna hails from Hospet and Abdul Rehman is a resident of Panjimogaru. The details of the remaining three have not been ascertained so far.

The family members of Narayana Gowda met the Police Commissioner on Friday.
