Teen Thay Bhai
Directed by Mrigdeep Singh Lamba
Moser Baer, Rs 299

If you missed the theatrics of this tacky trio on the silver screen earlier this year, catch up on the flick only when you have nothing better to do at home.

Three brothers, mutually insufferable, are cornered into spending a night together in a cabin atop a mountain to secure the big money willed to them by their late grandfather. Boo hoo! As they put up with each other, as per a clause of the will, so do we.

Silly lines, over-the-top acting by one of Indian cinema’s finest actors — Om Puri; and some hits and some misses by Shreyas Talpade make up the somewhat comical jamboree. The script flags off with much promise but begins to whimper once the characters roll in.

Of course, forget searching for a meaningful plot, for there isn’t any. Ragini Khanna brings in the much-needed vivaciousness quotient. Deepak Dobriyal is average. Yet the film captures with elan the spectacular locales of the Kashmir valley and the song, Pigeon kabootar, is hummable. But that’s about it.

This film makes you wonder as to why Rakeysh Mehra (credited with directing classics like Rang De Basanti, Delhi-6) chose to back this film. He seems to be back to his hackneyed Aks days with Teen Thay Bhai.
