According to the special DG Brijlal, the blast occurred around 1750 hours near the reception counter of the Jay Hospital in the busy Hari Parbat locality in Agra. “It appears to be a low intensity blast using some explosives,'' he said. “The nature of the explosives is yet to be ascertained.”

Inspector general, Agra zone P K Tewari also said that the intensity of the blast was not much. “The explosive was kept in a bag near the reception counter...the blast damaged the furniture and window panes,'' Tewari said. Patients are being shifted elsewhere.
ATS and forensic science teams had rushed the spot and the entire area had been cordoned off, officials said.

A state of alert has been sounded throughout the state as a precautionary measure. Officials said it was too early to term it a terrorist attack. The spot was barely 2.5 km from the Taj Mahal. The officials said  “security in and around the Taj has been beefed up. The monument has been on the hit list of the terrorists.
