Notices served on indicted officers

Notices have already been issued to officials of the Mining, Police and Forest departments besides those who had worked in Bellary district.

The notices are being issued based on the recommendations made by the committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary K Jairaj, constituted to study the mining report and suggest ways to implement the report.

The committee is still studying the Lokayukta report and U V Singh report. It will submit its recommendations to the government in phases and after the submission of the final report, action could be initiated against erring officials.

The government has already issued show cause notices to many officers including former mines and geology director M E Shivalingamurthy. The government may transfer some officers as they continue to hold key posts, sources said.
