Victorious: SJCC emerged winners at the fest.

With a unique theme of ‘Exploracao — Race the Rising Tide’, the fest had many students from various colleges of the City and even Mangalore and Mysore taking part.

‘Exploracao’ means exploration in Portuguese and it was an era when the Europeans ventured into mysterious oceans with an urge to find new trade routes. So the same was the basis of the fest.

A number of events like curtain raiser, finance, human resource, marketing, business quiz etc were held. But best manager, which was saved for the last, was one of most interesting events where the students had to answer questions from the judges based on themselves and their goals and convince them on why they were the best managers.

Said Anjali, vice president of commerce union, “This is the 15th edition of the fest so we had to meet a lot of expectations. We have been working really hard on it for a long time.”

There was even a surprise event, which involved a product hunt. “Various products were hidden in outlets surrounding the college. The participants were given a series of clues and they needed to convince the volunteers to give them the product. They were given half an hour,” explained Ranjana, one of the organisers.

“The fest was all about exploring the unexplored.  Even the invites of the fest were in the shape of a ship with the details being given on scrolls,” noted Sumaiya Khanum, secretary of the commerce union.

Teams from various colleges had taken part in the different events and the participants seemed to have had a lot of fun. Milana and Amrit, two students of Garden City College, had participated in human resource round and quiz. “We got to know more people here,” said Amrit. “It was good fun to take part in this fest and the rounds were quite different and challenging. We learnt a lot and we realised that we have to fight in a competitive world when we pass out,” added Milana. In the end, St Joseph’s College of Commerce emerged as the overall winners of the fest.
