Mehar triumphs

Despite enduring an error-filled final-round three-over 75, the 17-year-old Mehar showed great composure in the final hole, sealing victory with an under-pressure birdie at the Karnataka Golf Association.

Mehar, niece of golfing ace Arjun Atwal, signed off her campaign with a total of 218 while Vani, who staged an incredible comeback that saw her reduce an overnight five-shot deficit to even with just the final hole to play, finished three strokes behind with a 73 to secure second spot.

Heading into the final hole tied for the lead, Vani – who was one-under until that stage – duffed her shot twice on the par-4 closing hole to end with a double bogey.
