Sonia helps childless Dalit couple to adopt child

The couple apprised Sonia, who concluded her three-day visit to Raebareli on Wednesday, about the obstacles being created by the officials in its attempt to adopt an abandoned child during her visit to their Mirza Inaitulla village.

Acting swiftly on the couple’s plea, Gandhi asked the additional district magistrate, who was accompanying her, to complete the adoption prcoess within 24 hours and also inform her.
On the last day of her visit Gandhi again visited several Dalit dominated villages and listened to the problems of the people, state Congress sources here said.
She also laid the foundation stone of a customer care centre of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and launched the 3G services of the company.

On Tuesday Gandhi had helped in the release of a Dalit youth, who was allegedly implicated in a false case by the police.
