Last Updated 24 September 2011, 19:13 IST

A bag containing some suspicious material was found unattended in a BMTC bus (route 342F) plying between Majestic and Doddakallahalli.

Around 10.15 am, driver-cum-conductor K Gowda, while alighting from the vehicle, noticed a plastic bag with wires popping out of it, on one of the rear seats of the bus. He immediately alerted the police who rushed to the spot and managed to remove the plastic bag to a safe open place.

Bomb disposal and dog squads arrived and a host of senior police officers too rushed to the spot. After thorough examination, they discovered it was the handiwork of some mischief-mongers.

A bomb expert told Deccan Herald that an empty liquor bottle and a tin were used to scare the public. Miscreants plastered them with a tape and stuck two wires that popped out of the plastic bag.

With a large number of curious onlookers gathered at the spot, the traffic police had a tough time ensuring smooth flow of vehicles along the crowded road.
