Cops get clues on bank manager's murder

Last Updated 26 September 2011, 18:42 IST

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Sonia Narang said: “The police have collected some vital clues and are working on them. The case may be solved in a day or two.”

She said a close acquaintance of the manager, Shankar Poojary, 55, is suspected to be involved in the crime. The entry into the house was not forced, she added.

Poojary had several financial transactions and was deep in debt. Financial dispute could be a motive, police said.

Call details

“It is a blind case. Different people are coming out with different stories. We have collected call details, which may prove crucial,” Joint Commissioner (West) Pranab Mohanty said.

The chief manager of Oriental Bank on MG Road was found murdered at his house near Yediyur lake in Jayanagar. The final rites were performed at his hometown Kundapur in Udupi district.

His wife Kusunayan and daughter reached Kundapur directly from Mumbai.
