Students go ahead with 'CAVA Mela'

Last Updated 27 September 2011, 15:44 IST

Addressing a media conference here on Tuesday, CAVA students association joint secretary Sridhar said that CAVA Mela was started in 2004 and for the last two years it was one of the attractions during Dasara. As the programme, didn’t receive a huge response earlier, we are organising it separately this year after Dasara. He clarified that Kala Mela and CAVA Mela  were two separate programmes. “Dasara committee is misusing the name of CAVA. It is not correct on the part of officials to say that Kala Mela is the same as CAVA Mela. There is sufficient space in the CAVA premises to hold the art festival. But, instead it is being held at JSS Urban Haat.

As there is no financial assistance from the Dasara committee, we have decided to pool in funds for the festival,” he added. Students association secretary Sirish, members Anand, Abhilash and Parivartan were present at the media conference.

Addressing a media conference here on Tuesday, MKA honorary president Arun Machaiah announced that competitions would be held in kata and kamite categories based on age and weight. Medical education and district in-charge minister S A Ramdas would inaugurate the programme.

A rally will be held from Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple to Chamundi Vihar stadium at 9 am on October 3, he added. MKA president Shivadas, secretaries Naveen Kumar and Siddaraju were present.
