The contractor had stopped the work citing cost escalation. A special meeting of the Syndicate, the university’s highest decision-making body, on Tuesday discussed the
Government letter dated September 26, 2011, and resolved to resume the work immediately within the framework of the contractual agreement and the varsity norms.
The university has refused to accept the contractor’s demand to release funds for mobilisation of materials. Accordingly, the Registrar (Administration) directed the university engineer to issue work order to the contractor within the framework of contract by Friday.
The BU Registrar has warned that further delay would be “viewed seriously” and action would be initiated as per the terms and conditions of the contract. The said resolution was passed by a majority vote – nine members favouring and four against it.
