Second-seeded Indian Poojashree Venkatesh eked out a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 win over compatriot Isha Lakani to set up a title showdown with top-seeded Briton Emily-Webley Smith, who outlasted Slovakian Dalila Jakupovic, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-2, at the $ 10,000 women’s International Tennis Federation(ITF) tournament at the DLTA complex here on Friday.
Earlier, Poojashree teamed up with Sanaa Bhambri to clinch the doubles title, beating Nova Patel and Rishika Sunkara 6-2, 6-1.
Lakhani, 24, who had beaten Poojashree in the 2007 Aurangabad ITF tournament, was error-prone on the day that made things tough for her.
