Originally from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, Shiv Kumar, who worked as a teacher at Nagaur district, married Janki Madnani, a fellow teacher at a school in Bharatpur district.
Despite being a love marriage, it soon turned sour as Shiv Kumar learnt more of his wife’s spending habits.
He told police that he checked into a hotel along with his wife at Sindhi Camp area in Jaipur On August 29 and strangled to death on the same night following the quarrel. He then locked the room with the dead body and fled the scene.
Body recovered
Police recovered Janki’s body a few days later based on the complaint from the hotel management. She was identified from records given in her name to register the place. However, police were looking for Shiv after Janki’s family complained against him.
They finally tracked him down at Jhunjhunu district where he had been working as a teacher at a school.
