Senior most police official Inspector General of Police (northern range) N Shivakumar sat on his seat soon after unfurling the national flag and the national anthem.

This was brought to the notice of district in-charge minister Basavaraj Bommai, who told newsmen that he would get a report from Director General of Police on the incident and if the incident was true, action would be initiated.
Member of Parliament Suresh Angadi and legislator Abhay Patil had also told Bommai that the senior police official even did not respond or bother to the appeals by another official to stand for State anthem.
Bommai also assured to bring the incident to the notice of senior police officials of the State.
