Devotees from Karnataka and neighbouring states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu thronged the venue to witness this auspicious occasion.

The three hours of wait, which had almost exhausted the devotees vanished within a few seconds when they witnessed Theerthodbhava. Excited devotees reached the peak of devotion and shouted slogans praising River Cauvery. The priest showered
‘Theertha’ on the devotees from the Kundike.

The devotees who had thronged around the ‘Snana Kola’ in the temple premises, put coins in the lake as ‘Harake’. Later, they rushed to Brahma Kundike to receive Cauvery Theertha. The office bearers of the temple committee and the police had to struggle to manage the crowd.

Earlier in the day, jewelleries were brought from Bhagandeshwara temple in Bhagamandala to Talacauvery, in an elaborate procession. The goddess was decorated with ornaments and flowers.

Religious rituals were performed by temple priests Ananath Krishnachar, Ramakrishnachar, Shankarachar, Prashanthachar and others.

The temple committee arranged ‘annadana’ at the Talacauvery temple premises. Mandya Annasantharpana Samiti, Chettiyar Group, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Virajpet Kodava Samaja Sangha and other organisations offered ‘annadana’ outside the temples in Talacauvery and Bhagamandala.
