<p>The North-East Karnataka Road Transport Corporation had withdrawn bus services for most part of the day and a few buses that plied were stopped on the outskirts of the city, causing inconvenience to the passengers. <br /><br />But, the services were restored by late evening, when even the shops and petrol bunks that had downed the shutters since morning, resumed their business.<br />Superintendent of Police Pravin Pawar said security was stepped up as a precautionary measure.<br /><br />The police had even obtained a security bond for Rs 25 lakh from the organisers, Jai Karnataka Rakshana Vedike towards the damages, if any.<br /><br />Vedike president Arunkumar Patil said the bundh was called to pressure the government to recruit staff for nearly 80 per cent of the posts vacant in the Palike. </p>.<p>He said the administration work has suffered due to shortage of staff.<br /></p>
