'Karnataka Kanmani - 2011' awards presented

Make tangible contribution to society

He was speaking at a programme organised to award ‘Karnataka Kanmani-2011’ by Credit-i organisation at the Maharaja’s College Centenary Hall here on Monday.

Agarwal said that six decades had passed since the country became independent, but we were unable to become a developed nation.

Developing nation

India possesses all the qualities to become a developed nation, and yet was lagging behind for reasons unknown.

He called upon people to think about the contribution made to society. He appreciated efforts taken by institutions to improve facility in the society.

Deputy commissioner P S Vastrad said many institutions have taken up the role of encouraging talent. Credit-i is one of the institutions, which has been encouraging people by giving awards for the last five years.

More achievers

This will go a long way in creating more achievers who will continue to serve the society and also excel in their own chosen fields, he added.

SBM Mysore zone assistant general manager Janaradhanaiah said schools are lagging behind in rural areas.

He appreciated Credit-i for distributing educational DVDs to students in the countryside.

Karnataka Public Service Commission secretary Dr D S Vishwanath, women and child welfare department assistant director Nagaraju, Credit-i advisor Prof Vasanthamma, managing trustee M P Varsha and Manjunath were among those present on the occasion.

‘Karnataka Kanmani-2011’ awards were presented to Kavitha Gopal, M J Devaraja Reddy, Basavalingu, Chiranjeevi Shashank, Palaniswamy, B S Raghunath, Bhoomika Rajendra, Rangashetty and Eshwar S Rai.
