Kalavaibhava expo to open on Nov 11

The exhibition will open on November 11 and close on November 20. It is being sponsored by District Industries Centre, and Zilla Panchayat, Mysore, where consumers will get an opportunity to buy various kinds of rural handicrafts all made available under one roof.

Every year the local bodies of the District Industries Centre have been organising Kalaviabhava expos in their respective districts to sell locally made handicraft products to the general public.

The main intention behind organising Kalavaibhava is to encourage local Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Stree-Shakthi sanghas, Khadi Gramodyoga, local Small Scale Industries (SSIs) as well as cottage industries to sell their products by providing a suitable marketing outlet, according to a press release.

Accordingly this year too District Industrial Centre, Mysore is organising Kalavaibhava at JSS Mysore Urban Haat to exhibit and sell handicraft products and wares all of best quality produced by the above mentioned industries and individuals in addition to those made by self employed and skilled artisans and various other organisations, said the release.

Of the numerous items that will be put on display and also for sale, include handloom dresses,silk and cotton sarees, filigrees of various kinds of metal and gold, ready-made dress materials, sculptures of Shivarapattanam,  pottery items, leather and wood toys and dolls, household articles, designer handbags, artificial jewelleries along with ayurvedic and herbal medicines, rosaries made of Rudraksha and other beads, ornaments worn by tribals, silk sarees, bronze statues, bed-sheets and covers, Chennapatna dolls, pitchers made of mud, flower pots and various other decorative items. The prices have been fixed so as to be within the easy reach of everyone.

Cultural programmes will also be held every evening.
