Central leadership to 'wait and watch'

Last Updated 08 November 2011, 19:16 IST

Asked about the demand for making Yeddyurappa the State BJP President, the Central leaders maintained that no such demand had been placed before the high command.

On being reminded that  Yeddyurappa loyalists had been insisting on him being made the State party president, one of the senior leaders responded cryptically: “He will not ask for it.”

The central leaders are waiting for the courts to give their verdicts in cases allegedly involving the former chief minister. “Wait and watch is the mantra,” they said.

The High Court on Tuesday released Yeddyurappa, saying his offence was not the one which warranted death or life term.

The bail granted to Yeddyurappa in the third private complaint for alleged irregularities in
denotifying government land to favour his family members comes five days after he secured relief in the second complaint relating to similar charges. BJP leaders indicated that the Lingayat leader remained the strongest and most influential leader in the State and could make a comeback  only after the judiciary gave its final verdict in all the cases.
