Gayathri, daughter of Chamundaiah, a resident of K N Pura is the deceased.
She was studying BA in Maharani’s Arts and Commerce College here.
Marriage alliance
According to police the reason behind her extreme step is suspected to be the marriage alliance that was fixed against her wishes.
Gayatri left home for college as usual on Thursday, but went to a pawnbroker’s shop in the
locality to pledge her ear rings.
She received Rs 300 against the valuables and bought a plastic can and six litres of kerosene.
She later set herself afire at an abandoned hospital building in Jalapuri around 11 am.
Nazarbad police have registered a case.
