DySP held for amassing Rs 25-crore illegal assets

Sarveshwar Reddy, officer on special duty in Ranga Reddy district, also holds a PhD degree and that too on the subject “The role of police in society” from Dr Ambedkar Open University.

The ACB officials have registered a case against Reddy and conducted simultaneous searches at different places at Gachibowli and his native place of Chikatonipally in Mahabubnagar district.

The assets include six houses, 15 plots, about 26 acres of agricultural land at Veltor mandal in Mahabubnagar district and Maheswaram of Ranga Reddy district. The basic value of these immovable properties is Rs 3.30 crore.

The searches unearthed movable and immovable assets possessed by the OSD in the name of his family members and in benami names worth Rs 5 crore.

The searches also unearthed cash and gold ornaments weighing about 140 grams, one Hyundai Verna car, one Scorpio, one Nissan Micra, household articles worth Rs 6.4 lakh, three firearms (one revolver, one DBBL and one single barrel gun), LIC investments worth Rs 11 lakh, investment for the purchase of villa in Kokapet to the tune of Rs 1 crore, movable properties to the tune of Rs 1.77 crore. While on paper his assets are worth Rs 5 crore, sources point out that the market value of these will be around Rs 25 crore.
