4 killed in two hours

Two employees of a private firm, an MBA student and an auto driver were among the dead.

Crushed under wheels

A woman was killed on the spot while her husband escaped with minor injuries after a private bus knocked down their motorbike in Mico Layout.

Poornima, 43, and Srikanthan, 50, residents of Gottigere, were on their way to work at JP Nagar when the speeding bus knocked them down near Meenakshi Mall bus stop. Poornima came under the front wheel of the bus and died on the spot, police said. The bus driver fled the scene. An injured Srikanthan is admitted to a hospital.

Student dies in mishap

A business management student was run over by a lorry in the Mico Layout police limits. Vaishak Balakrishna, 23, of AMC College, and his classmate Vaishak B of Gottigere, fell off the two-wheeler they were riding while trying to overtake a tipper lorry at around 9.15 am on Friday. Vaishak, who was riding pillion, came under the lorry’s rear wheel and died on the spot.

Head-on collision

A 41-year-old man was killed and another injured when their two-wheeler and a car collided head-on at Madiwala.

G K Prasad of Doddakannalli, working in a battery shop, was riding pillion with Prashant, 19, a watch mechanic. Prashant allegedly tried to overtake a lorry and failed to notice a car approaching in the opposite direction. The car rammed into the bike, killing Prasad on the spot, police said. Prashant, who sustained minor injuries, is admitted to a hospital.

Auto driver killed

An auto driver was killed on the spot and two unidentified youths were injured in an accident at Electronic City.

Venkatesh, 50, a resident of Anekal, had parked his autorickshaw and was crossing the road between Naganathpura and Konappana Agrahara to have breakfast at a restaurant around 10.20 am, when two youths in a bike knocked him down. Venkatesh died instantaneously while the two youths sustained injuries. Both are admitted to a hospital.

Early morning robbery

Four unidentified persons barged into a house belonging to Libo, 28, at Nanjappa Reddy Layout in Banaswadi and fled with cellphones, jewellery and electronic gadgets worth Rs 35,000, on Friday morning. Miscreants threatened Libo and his friend at knifepoint and decamped with valuables, added the police.

Arrested for theft

The CCB police have arrested Uday, 31, a resident of Laggere, Mujahid, 24, Baiappanahalli and Mohan, 28, Makanahalli village in Hassan district and seized four bikes and jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh from them.

The three have been sent to the Central Prisons in Parappana Agrahara. The police said the trio was recently released from the prisons and took to bike theft to earn easy money. They befriended Ravi, a resident of Jayanagar, an expert in stealing bikes.
